New bakery open in Alpine
Ginger Hillery of Alpine’s Taste and See Bakery (below) displayed her whole grain breads and pastries at the Alpine Farmers Market late last month; the new bakery specializes in freshly-milled whole grains made from spelt and wheat.
Hillery, who started milling grain thirteen years ago, mills them at low temperatures to maintain the nutritional integrity of the grain.
Products available from Taste and See include Italian peasant bread, spelt rye almond loaf, pizza crust, and a variety of other products.
Taste and See Bakery is located at 802 East Brown St. in Alpine, and open Tuesday and Friday 4-6 pm and most Saturdays at the Alpine Farmers Market (outside of Big Bend Thrift Store, on Avenue A at the intersection with North Fifth Street/Hwy 118). 432-837-5430.
