Brewster County Commissioners Court voted this morning to put the burn ban in effect for Brewster County. This burn ban prohibits the outdoor burning of trash, debris, and brush in the unincorporated area of the county for 90 days. Currently, there is a large amount of grasses and other light fuels that are drying out in the area. The Keetch-Byram Drought Index puts the county at an average rating of 505 out of 800, the higher the number the drier the conditions.
