The Terlingua Moon has published a special edition urging residents to attend the Terlingua Common School District Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday. according to The Moon, “To: PARENTS, TEACHERS, RESIDENTS OF BREWSTER COUNTY AND THE TERLINGUA SCHOOL DISTRICT. There is an urgency that the public make firm plans to attend the next school board meeting. It might just be the most important one ever held at TCSD. No matter if you have never come before; no matter if you do not plan to attend another. Especially if you have felt intimidated into not attending in the past. No matter whether you have children in this school, or your children are past school age. And, even if you have no children at all. And, especially if you have transferred your children out of this school, or are homeschooling. Wed. evening, February 11th, at 5:p.m. in the BB High school conference room.”

While is is unclear why it is so important to attend the meeting one agenda item to be considered will be for the school to hire a financial consultant. At the last board meeting former superintendent Kathy Killingsworth was considered for that position. At that meeting Killingsworth told the board a financial consultant would cost $800 to $1,000 a day. The school has 86 students. The board tabled that item to be reconsidered at the upcoming meeting Wednesday.
The TCSD meeting is Wednesday at 5 P.M. at the Big Bend High School in Terlingua.
