The High Sierra Bar & Grill @ The Eldorado Hotel is proud to announce the dates for our 4th Annual Chili Cookoff & Ghostown Dutch Oven Challenge. We are prepared to host over 50 cooks from all over Texas as well as local cooks vying for not only great prizes but cash as well. Our event begins on January 30, 2015 with a Bean, Salsa & Chili competition followed by a cooks party at 6:00 PM at High Sierra Bar & Grill. Our main event is Saturday, January 31st featuring not only our Chili competition but also a Bloody Mary contest and a Dutch Oven cookoff in memory of our local friend Glenn Felts whom cooked at our 1st, 2nd & 3rd annual High Sierra cookoff, we are dedicating our Dutch Oven cookoff in Glenn’s memory with a $400 1st place prize along with a one of a kind “Collie Ryan” mandala hubcap beautifully illustrating a picture of Glenn cooking at last years event. Our cooking weekend ends with a “Super Bowl” Sunday Chili cookoff followed by a party in the bar to watch the game on the big screen.
Jim Ezell, Chili appreciation Society International (CASI) director will serve as our head judge and will also present CASI checks totalling over $17,000.00 at Saturdays awards presentation approximately 5:30 PM @ High Sierra /El Dorado parking lot. The recipients this year are the Terlingua Medics, Terlingua School, Brewster County Sheriff, Big Bend Citizens Alliance/Ghostown Charities and the Big Bend Chamber of Commerce.
