Alpine officials working in aftermath of storm
Alpine City Manager Erik Zimmer told the Gazette this morning in an email he has been working closely with crews from AEP to restore power to Alpine. Zimmer added City of Alpine crews have also been busy clearing debris from the New Year’s storm. Mayor Avinash Rangra has also been in contact with AEP.
As of 11:30 AM Sunday, AEP reports 676 Alpine area customers remain without power and all of Marathon has no power. AEP says power to Marathon should occur sometime tonight.
The last update from Rio Grande Electric estimated power would be restored to Terlingua, Lajitas and Big Bend National Park Monday or Tuesday.
