New hoopdance classes start this Monday, Nov. 17 in Alpine
From Big Bend Gazette Editor Marlys Hersey:
In this stunningly beautiful time of year in the Big Bend, I am starting a new round of hoopdance classes every week (unless otherwise noted), ongoing, EVERY Monday night from 5:30 - 6 :30 pm at the Granada Theater in downtown Alpine. Each class will focus primarily on just one or two moves, along with several other fun elements to the class, and offer varying levels of development for each move, thereby engaging brand new hoopers to the very experienced.
I know we’re entering into the busy holiday season; isn’t that all the more reason to prioritize a little time for yourself each week to get some great exercise, release some stress, develop your wonderful hoop skills and flow, and PLAY with your hooping friends?
Here’s an excerpt from my new website to further explain the style of my new hoopdance classes:
Founder and director of Far Out Hooping, hoopdance instructor Marlys has experienced increased joy, strength, health, fitness, and confidence from hooping, and the delight in finding a new community of hoopers (local and global). As a certified Hoop Love Coach and certified and licensed Hoola-Fit Instructor, Marlys invites you to experience a class with her to open the hooping door for yourself, or continue further down the path on your hooping journey already in progress.
Weekly, ongoing Hoola-Fit* hoopdance classes (starting November 17, 2014)
Mondays, 5:30-6:30 pm at the Granada Theater
207 E. Holland Avenue , Alpine, Texas 79830
Each Hoola-Fit class offers a great workout, lots of fun, and skill development for hoopers of all levels of experience and interest. Classes are open to hoopers 14 years of age and older. Come every week, or drop in any Monday evening that works for you. Bring plenty of water to drink, dress in clothes in which you like to move and don’t mind sweating. Bring your own hoop or borrow one of ours.
*What is Hoola-Fit? Approved by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), Hoola-Fit is “a health and wellness program incorporating mindful movement practice through creative dance expression and elemental flow with hoops. Hoola-Fit combines cutting-edge hoop dance techniques with a variety of efficient drills and concepts to promote maximum health and wellness benefits in which students are encouraged to progress at their own pace,” explain Hoola-Fit founders Abby Albaum and Cassandra Tanenbaum.
“Hooping is a low-impact, aerobic exercise that increases your heart and breathing rates, elevates your body temperature to bring out the sweat, burn calories, and, as with other types of exercise, improve your body’s ability to absorb glucose. Increased muscle tone, improved flexibility, and enhanced balance and coordination are also benefits of hoopdance.”
Sound good?
