Ramon Alvarado Chacon, 57, formerly of Alpine, was convicted of the First Degree Felony Offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child, on June 18, 2014, by a jury in the 394th Judicial District Court of Brewster County, Texas. Mr. Chacon was sentenced by the Hon. Roy Ferguson, 394th Judicial District Judge, to 55 years in prison. There is no parole for this offense.
The evidence showed that Mr. Chacon repeatedly sexually abused a six year old family member in 2007. No action was taken on his case, and then Mr. Chacon fled in 2011. The new 83rd District Attorneys Office caused Mr. Chacon to be arrested again in July 2013.
“Our office will continue to prosecute and bring to justice the sexual predators who molest the children in our communities”, stated 83rd District Attorney Rod Ponton.
The case was investigated and Mr. Chacon was charged due to the hard work of the Alpine Police Department. The state was represented by 83rd District Attorney Rod Ponton and First Assistant District Attorney Bill Parham. Mr. Chacon was represented by Ft. Davis attorney Bart Medley. The courtroom was filled at the time of sentencing with family supporters, members of law enforcement, and crime victim advocates.
