Brewster County Sheriff Nabs Ukrainian Nationals
SPECIAL UPDATE: June 15, 2014 - Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson received a call early this morning from a rancher regarding three male individuals that had walked up to his ranch house and requested to use his telephone. Males posed as lost hikers and tourists. After using the telephone the three males ran off after the rancher offered to call the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Dodson and several deputies were able to determine the location of the three individuals by tracking sign and help from Texas DPS Aircraft. Two individuals were taken into custody after a lengthy search. The two individuals were determined to be of Ukrainian origin. Several hours later BCSO Deputies pinned the third individual in a box canyon. Deputies, assisted by men on horseback were able to contain the male under some brush, where he was placed into custody. The male was also of Ukranian origin. It appears that all three individuals had entered into Mexico and crossed the border to gain illegal entry into the United States. At this time all three are being held on several state charges. Case remains under investigation by the BCSO.
