Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis will not visit Alpine in early March, the Gazette has learned. (Yesterday, the Gazette reported the possibility of such a visit.)
Rebecca Acuna of the Wendy R. Davis for Governor Campaign told the Gazette Davis would not be in Alpine in early March thought the campaign is still considering a visit to the Big Bend region.
The Democratic Party candidate has local Dems excited about the prospect. Alpine Mayor Avinash Rangra told the Gazette, ”It will be an excellent opportunity for her to see our part of Texas. Four years ago, Bill White visited us and his get together was a great success. I know Democrats, independents and quite a few Republicans would not mind attending our party.” Rangra added he would contact the Davis campaign to stress the importance and impact of a visit to Alpine.
