Border Patrol stops an assault
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – An off-duty U.S. Border Patrol Agent stopped an assault against a woman as she pleaded for help. The assault occurred on Monday, Oct. 28 at 10:30 a.m. in Las Cruces, N.M. The off-duty agent was driving home when he saw a woman flagging down motorists hoping someone would stop and help. The agent stopped to offer assistance, and that’s when she began stating that she was being assaulted by her boyfriend. The agent quickly took control of the situation by identifying himself as a law enforcement officer to the suspect and utilized verbal commands to stop the assault. Dona Ana Sheriff’s deputies arrived shortly thereafter and took custody of the male subject without incident.
The U.S. Border Patrol works diligently with the community along with a host of other law enforcement agencies to help keep our border communities safe. Agents continue working diligently toward the goal of keeping criminals off the streets and out of the neighborhoods.
