According to the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office: A major 4-vehicle chain reaction accident occurred approximately 3 miles north of the Hwy 67 and the East Hwy 90 Junction [on the afternoon of Friday, July 26]. Four vehicles collided into each other when the driver of a white Chevy pickup slammed into a Ford Escape. The Escape in turn hit a white suburban, and another vehicle suffered minor damage. The driver of the Ford Escape was trapped in her vehicle; Alpine Fire Rescue used the jaws of life to extract her. Two drivers were transported to the Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine. All other drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. At this time all involved are doing well and still being treated for their injuries. Special thanks to Alpine EMS, Alpine VFD/Fire Rescue, Affordable Towing, Alpine Police Dept., Texas DPS, the great employees from the Alpine TXDOT Office and all the good Samaritans. Accident is still under investigation.”
