Alpine’s Gallery Night Artwalk Sweet 16th anniversary is scheduled for the weekend before Thanksgiving, November 20 and 21. Planning of this year’s event is under way and the excitement of the artists, musicians, businesses, and patrons has already begun to build. This year’s Gallery Night may just be the best one ever. For the sixteenth anniversary the board of directors is pleased to announce Wayne Baize as this year’s Honored Artist and Ray Wylie Hubbard as the featured musical entertainment.

Wayne Baize began working on art inspired by the Big Bend region in the early seventies by photographing the 06 and other ranches in the area. He moved to Fort Davis because of his love for the rugged Davis Mountains and the western heritage of the region. A rancher, family man, and prestigious member of the Cowboy Artists of America, Wayne Baize’s work is exemplifies and celebrates western heritage, a working cowboy, and a rugged beauty which all who are lucky enough to live in the Big Bend embrace.

Rugged as the Big Bend, one of the original Texas outlaws, The One, The Only, Ray Wylie Hubbard will rock the free stage at Kiowa Plaza Saturday night with his smelting of country, blues, rock and droll, grit-n-groove, and poignant poetic lyrics. Opening for Ray will be our local favorites Matt Skinner and Grupo de la Paz. As always the entertainment will be rocking, the local fair fabulous, and the art impressive. Alpine’s Gallery Night Artwalk’s sweet sixteen is rolling toward a fabulous event.

Mark your calendars and hold on to your sombreros for this year’s Gallery Night. It’s two nights of featured galleries, two nights of featured artists, and two nights of fun. And it’s FREE. For more information logon to www.alpinegallerynight.com, or call 432-837-3067.
