Editor's Note: We attended the opening night performances of Last Minute Low Budget Productions' "Lights On" this past weekend; this is some of the best theater I have ever seen, anywhere, hands down. To find such high quality acting, directing, light, sound in such an intimate theater, for just $8 per person is always fantastic; to be treated to such an array of great short pieces in South Brewster County is truly phenomenal. Your editor, publisher and many friends laughed harder than they have in years. Many thanks and great applause to LMLBP! - Marlys Hersey, Ed.

SOUTH BREWSTER COUNTY—Come one, come all! Last Minute Low Budget Productions of Terlingua is presenting “Lights On,” a series of short plays and skits at Lajitas’ Flat Rock Theater. The show opened Friday, July 3, and continues through this weekend, July 10 & 11 & 12.

Short theatrical pieces have become more popular, particularly in summer. This collection includes nine plays which together run about two hours, with one intermission.

And fear not: the Flat Rock Theater, just around the corner from the Lajitas Boardwalk (at the end of the parking lot), is air conditioned. Last Minute Low Budget Productions is very grateful to management at the resort for allowing the use of the space, which comes equipped with more real-theater stuff than the troupe is used to.

“Lights On” is being coordinated by Nola Lafayette who, inveterate actress that she is, also performs in two of the pieces. Nine actors combine and recombine on stage in different roles. Expect the funny, the quirky, the farcical, and the broad from this production. Curtain time on Fridays and Saturdays, at 8 pm. The two Sunday matinees will begin at 2 pm. Ticket price is $8 for everyone.  Drinks and snacks will be available at the theater concession stand.
