Land Commissioner calls press conference on eve of vote to sell 9,269 acres

AUSTIN — Jerry Patterson, Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, will

make a surprise announcement regarding the sale of Christmas Mountains.

Patterson will hold a press conference at 2:30 p.m., Monday, November 5 on the

ninth floor of the Stephen F. Austin Building, 17th and North Congress Avenue.

On Tuesday, the three-member School Land Board is set to consider private bids for

the Christmas Mountains and will vote to award a bid. Bids for the 9,269-acre tract

of Permanent School Fund land were due October 31. The board received two

qualified bids.
